Shenhua Group, the parent company of China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd, said that it last week kicked off the construction of an RMB 24-billion coal-fired power complex in Wanzhou District of Chongqing Municipality.
The company said in a statement that the project is invested by Shenhua Shendong Power Co, a subsidiary of China Shenhua Energy. The complex will include six 1-gagawatt power generators, a 10-million-ton coal reserve base and a coal wharf.
The company will invest about RMB 8 billion in the first phase of the project, the first 1-gagawatt thermal power project in Southwest China.
